Commission-free online ordering for restaurants

Updated October 16, 2026

Commission-free online ordering means nobody takes a percentage of your orders. You pay a flat monthly fee for the ordering app or website, plus normal card processing, and the rest of every order is yours.

Commission-free does not mean free

Any honest commission-free system still has costs. Here are the ones you will see with Nomback:

CostAmount
Ordering app, monthly$99
Setup, one time$399
Apple App Store account in your name$99 a year, paid to Apple
Card processingNormal card fees on each card sale
Commission on orders$0

The website plan is $79 a month and $149 setup, and app plus website is $129 a month. Month to month, no contract.

Three ways ordering platforms charge restaurants

Commission. A percentage of every order. Marketplaces work this way. DoorDash charges 15%, 25% or 30% per delivery order and 6% on pickup. Your cost grows with every order you sell.

Per-order fee. A fixed amount per order, sometimes charged to the restaurant and sometimes added to the customer's total. Cheaper than commission on big orders, but it still grows with volume, and a fee on the customer's side can make ordering direct feel no better than the app.

Flat monthly fee. One price no matter how many orders. This is how Nomback works. Your cost stays the same whether you do 50 orders a month or 2,000.

When commission-free pays for itself

At a 25% commission, $99 a month equals the commission on $396 of orders. That is about 12 orders at $35. Most restaurants with regulars move more than that in their first month on their own app. At 15%, the break even is $660 of orders, or about 19 orders at $35.

The commission calculator shows what you paid the delivery apps last year with your own numbers, and Who got your DoorDash money? splits a single order between you, the driver and DoorDash.

You don't have to quit the marketplaces

DoorDash is good at finding you new customers. It is expensive for the ones who already know you. The usual setup is to keep DoorDash for discovery and move regulars to your own app with a stamp card and a card in every delivery bag that gives them a reason to order direct next time.

Common questions

What is commission-free online ordering?

An ordering app or website where the restaurant pays no percentage of each order. The restaurant pays a flat fee for the software and normal card processing, and keeps the rest.

Is commission-free online ordering really free?

No. You still pay for the software and for card processing. With Nomback that is $99 a month and $399 setup for the app, plus Apple's $99 a year App Store fee and normal card fees, with $0 commission.

When does a flat monthly fee beat paying commission?

At 25% commission, $99 a month equals the commission on about $396 of orders, roughly 12 orders at $35. Above that, a flat fee costs less.

Can I keep DoorDash and still use commission-free ordering?

Yes. Most restaurants keep DoorDash for new customers and move their regulars to their own app.
