The Olo app: what it costs and what it means for restaurants

Olo, the ordering software behind many chain restaurant apps, launched its own consumer app on October 20, 2026. Restaurants pay no commission on orders through it. Customers pay a 5% fee to Olo plus a delivery fee on delivery orders, and menu prices match the store. It launched with more than 250 brands, about 20,000 locations and 40 million existing Olo account users, mostly chains like Five Guys and Waffle House. Existing Olo customers join through their Olo setup; other restaurants request a demo.

What the Olo app costs

WhoPays
RestaurantNo commission on Olo App orders (Olo)
Customer5% network fee to Olo, plus a delivery fee on delivery (NRN)
Menu pricesSame as in store

Olo describes the app as live in beta. It plans to open it to all 800+ Olo customers and eventually to restaurants that don't use Olo.

Who is on it

More than 250 brands and about 20,000 locations at launch, reaching 40 million Olo account users (Fast Casual). It is built for chains already running on Olo, not single independent restaurants.

What it means for an independent restaurant

It shows where ordering is going: no markups, no restaurant commission, the fee moved to the customer. An independent can do the same today with its own app and no fee on either side: the cheapest commission-free ordering apps. Compare what the delivery apps take: DoorDash vs Uber Eats vs Grubhub.

Bottom line

Commission-free for restaurants, 5% for customers, chains first.
