DoorDash Storefront fees in 2026: what the commission-free option really costs
DoorDash Storefront, now sold as DoorDash Online Ordering inside the DoorDash Commerce Platform, charges 0% commission on orders placed through your own website, social links or Google. The restaurant pays card processing of 2.9% + 30 cents per order on the Boost ($99 a month) and Pro ($249 a month) packages, or 3.3% + 30 cents on the free Starter tier, and customers pay DoorDash's delivery and service fees on delivery orders. On a $40 pickup order that is $1.46 to $1.62 to the restaurant. The catch is in the fine print: Online Ordering "is available to restaurants with an active DoorDash store", so you keep paying 15% to 30% on every order that still comes through the DoorDash app, and the customer who orders direct is still a DoorDash customer.
What is DoorDash Storefront now called?
DoorDash renamed it. The old Storefront page redirects to "Online Ordering", also called Direct Ordering, and it is one piece of the DoorDash Commerce Platform, which bundles a website, email marketing and, on the top tier, a branded app (DoorDash). Existing Storefront merchants were moved over at no extra cost. The pricing structure is the same idea as before: no commission on direct orders, processing on each, and DoorDash's own delivery fees charged to the customer.
What are the DoorDash Online Ordering fees?
From DoorDash's pages, October 2026:
| Package | Monthly | Processing per order | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0 | 3.3% + 30¢ | Commission-free direct ordering on your site and Google |
| Boost | $99 | 2.9% + 30¢ | Branded website, automated email, loyalty and gift card integrations |
| Pro | $249 | 2.9% + 30¢ | Branded mobile app, cross-channel loyalty, email and text marketing |
Sources: Commerce Platform for the packages and DoorDash learning center for the processing rates. DoorDash says there are no cancellation penalties. Pickup orders pay only the processing fee (DoorDash).
Who pays for delivery on a Storefront order?
The customer. DoorDash's page says "customers pay delivery fees on delivery orders", and the Storefront addendum spells out a customer delivery fee plus a customer service fee, with a $2 small-order fee under $10 (Storefront addendum). The amounts sit in a rate card that isn't public; the restaurant can adjust the customer-facing delivery fee in the merchant portal, and reviewers report base delivery fees in the $1.99 to $3.99 range. The Dasher is the same Dasher. If you would rather pay a flat fee yourself and show the customer a clean price, DoorDash Drive is $6.99 to $10.99 per delivery with 100% of tips to the Dasher (DoorDash Drive; explained here).
Do you need to be on the DoorDash Marketplace?
Yes. "Direct Ordering comes standard with all DoorDash Marketplace plans" and the Online Ordering page says it is available to restaurants with an active DoorDash store (DoorDash). There is no version for a restaurant that wants off DoorDash. The marketplace plans are Basic at 15% on delivery, Plus at 25% and Premier at 30%, all 6% on pickup, with a $6 a week tablet after the trial (DoorDash pricing; DoorDash fees in detail).
What does a $40 order cost on Storefront vs the DoorDash app?
Ordered direct on Boost: $1.46 in processing, you keep $38.54. Ordered in the DoorDash app on Plus: $10 in commission, you keep $30. The difference is $8.54 per order, so the whole point of Storefront is moving orders from the second column to the first. DoorDash's own data says restaurants that promote direct ordering do move some. What it doesn't change: the DoorDash app is still open on the customer's phone, with your competitors in it, and the customer account, email list and order history stay with DoorDash.
Is DoorDash Storefront worth it?
If you're staying on the marketplace anyway, Starter costs nothing and every order it catches saves you the commission, so turn it on. Boost at $99 and Pro at $249 are where it gets expensive for what you get: a website and email tools on Boost, and a branded app on Pro that costs $249 a month plus the marketplace commission you're still paying. A standalone app at $99 a month with no marketplace attached (app costs compared) does the same job for the regulars, and the customer list is yours.
DoorDash Storefront vs an app of your own
Nomback is $99 a month, the same as Boost, with a $399 setup, no commission, Stripe's 2.9% + 30 cents, and it includes the branded iPhone and Android app that DoorDash charges $249 for (pricing). It doesn't require a DoorDash store. A stamp card and push deals are built in, orders print in the kitchen or land on your Clover already paid, and delivery runs through DoorDash Drive at a flat fee when you want it. Many restaurants keep a DoorDash listing for new customers and run their own app for the people who already know them.
